Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp Call it Quits After 14 Years

Johnny Depp and his longtime girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, have decided to amicably part ways after ta 14 year relationship. The couple share two children together. Paradis, a French actress who is 10 years younger than the 49 year old Superactor Depp, has been fighting off breakup rumors for months, but the truth was finally confirmed on Tuesday through their publicists.
The speculation had grown in recent months, as the couple rarely appeared together for anything. The two were never really awards show types to begin with, but when walking red carpets recently, they haven’t been together–even at event premiers. Those close to the celebrities, speaking anonymously, have stated that the two tried hard to save the relationship, but the relationship, as it had once been defined, wasn’t salvageable. So. Ladies. Johnny Depp is single. And not yet 50. And fellas. Vanessa Paradis–if you’ve got a gap-toothed fetish–may be looking for love in all the wrong places. If you ever had a shot…
Absurdity aside.
I can’t figure if this is sad–though with children involved, I suppose it’s always sad when parents go their separate ways. It’s unfortunate. But why do people care so much? I suppose living vicariously through Johnny Depp is a lot more exciting than living many other existences–a lot more Jack Sparrow-y for someone who longs to live the life of a pirate.

Johnny and Vanessa were together for 14 years but their crumbling relationship wasn’t much of a secret as the two were pretty much living separate lives once they moved from France to Los Angeles. It had been well over a year since the couple appeared on a red carpet together, but just this May Johnny Depp denied any trouble. At the Dark Shadows premiere he insisted: “No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite. I can’t say enough about it not being over.” There were rumors this April of Johnny seeing his Rum Diaries co-star Amber Heard, when she was seen boarding Johnny’s private jet. Of course, Heard, who is bisexual, could have just been handing out with Johnny for business, or friendship. He was also linked to Ashley Olsen this March.
Paradis once explained to Elle why they never got married:

“I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect … I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be – we have two kids. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without,”

Depp and Paradis have two children together, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.
